'Wii Fit' will definitely get you moving

Acting like a cross between a personal trainer and a video game, "Wii Fit" offers up more than 40 different exercises and activities that are supposed to help those who play it not only get into shape but have fun while doing it.

Msnbc.com wants to know what you think. Can you get in shape with a video game? Do you plan to buy Wii Fit? Or is it the latest Wii gimmick from Nintendo? And gimmick or not, do you think it'll work?

WiiFit is an excellent premise. I think it is important to attempt to get us gamers off the couch every once in a while. The Wii has been a great tool for accomplishing this. But I don't think that WiiFit all by it's lonesome is gonna be the thing that changes my exercise life. I will probably work out more once I pick it up, but that's more due to my dislike for actual gyms and nasty exercise equipment than an actual increase in my desire to do so. After all, I have digital cable, which includes a nifty little "exercise on demand" channel, and I have only used it twice in the entire time I've had it (which probably spans about four years). I think that it is important to think about the effects that diet has on fitness as well, and not just say "Oh I'm finally getting off the couch and doing something."

Whether it gets me in shape or not is yet to be determined. But after playing through each of the unlocked levels yesterday I can only hope that tomorrow is better for me than today. I hurt so bad that it hurts to blink. I believe that if your a 42 yr old couch potato such as myself that the soreness of my muscles has to say "YES" it can get you into shape. I actually didnt think it was that bad yesterday while doing the excercises. Yes, I did have to wipe sweat and yes I did have to take a break a couple of times but I did not think in the slightest that I would hurt like this today. It makes me laugh to think I am so out of shape that 32 minutes of playing a video game would make me whine like this. If you don't believe me......try it

The Wii Fit will make Mii fit! :-) Since getting the Wii Fit, I have been exercising at least 30 minutes a day. You might laugh, but before that, I enjoyed walking and playing tennis (only in the summers)...that's it. I never worked my other muscles regularly.

With Wii Fit, I have a certain sequence that I do...first yoga, then some strength exercises, and finally aerobics. As my "dessert," I do one or two balance games. It works well for me; it's fun, and I don't even realize I'm exercising!

As with all exercise programs, you have to be motivated. Taking a body test and hearing the cues of "great job" and "you have nice posture" inspire me to do even better.

Yes I believe a video game can help a person get fit. Dance Dance Revolution helped me lose 24 pounds in 10 weeks. It is so much fun and burns so many calories. I'm definitely getting a Wii Fit!

I like Wii Fit. I think it's an excellent bridge between exercise and entertainment. Hopefully, it is the first of its kind and subsequent offerings will expand into the areas that could expand: a whole class of fitness gmaes with nonstandard controllers, ones that you could customize to a particular workout...

I like to do a few combinations from Yoga and Strength Training. Then I do some Aerobics games and finish off with some balance games. if I realy need a cooldown, I'll do the meditation (though I don't find the board the best meditation pillow to sit on, I've managed).

Of course, I would love to be able to make personalised programs of activities, so I could just click GO and it would take me through that predetermined cycle. That's a useful option for people who want to focus on a particular skill or muscle grouping, or wasnt to have a few to choose from (Balance, core strengthening, endurance, arms, legs, joints.

It hasn't replaced my karate dojo (and was never intended to), but on days I can't make it there, it helps me stay limber.

I couldn't believe it, the first time I played the Wii. I never would have thought that video games could get one into shape. But I believe it now. That thing kicked my ASS.
