Men claim hairy corpse is Bigfoot

A hairy corpse crammed in a Georgia freezer is Bigfoot, say two men who have been tracking the legendary creature, when they aren't busy looking for leprechauns and the Loch Ness monster.

Matt Whitton and Rick Dyer say they stumbled across the corpse in the woods of north Georgia, across the country from the remote regions of the Northwest where people usually claim to see the man-ape.

Still, the Georgia men say DNA will prove once and for all that the frozen creature is Sasquatch.

Msnbc.com wants to know what you think. What would you do if you found the 500lb corpse of an adult male Bigfoot? Would you alert a research facility, the media, the government, a book publisher ... or given today's skyrocketing food prices, would you cook it and eat it, then make a rug from the hide?

I like your attitude! This may be a hoax, but it is very likely that Bigfoot/Sasquatch really does exist.

Every Native American tribe has had stories of the hairy man which pre-date the arrival of Europeans.

The mountain gorilla was not "discovered" until 1902 even though local natives had always reported sightings of their "hairy men". These tales were scoffed at and treated as fantastic folk lore.

Every inhabitable continent but North America has documented non-human primates. This is an oddity which may be changed one day.

Sasquatch could actually be Gigantopithecus which is currently thought to be extinct. There are Sasquatch-type sightings in every continental US state. Many cryptozoologists believe there is more than one species.

Many very credible people have related sightings without any expectation of capital gain. Some sightings are by more than one person. All face ridicule but stubbornly aver that they know what they saw and stick to it.

In nature, bodies are quickly scavenged leaving no trace behind, ergo the previous lack of finding a corpse.

The logic used to say that Bigfoot does not exist, if applied to God, would also prove that He does not exist.

What would I do if I came upon a Bigfoot corpse? Very similar to what these possible hoaxers are doing. Preserve it as soon as possible in a secret location. Keep my mouth shut until I was able to get lawyers to be sure that everyone I planned to involve in scientific research had signed contracts that gave me a good portion of the earnings. They would also draw up my contract with whatever network was the highest bidder (okay – I might do National Geographic as long as the money was still pretty high up there). Make sure I had highly qualified individuals working on the DNA testing to finally find out exactly what this creature is – humanoid, ape, monkey, or something totally new. Retire as a multimillionaire with the initial payouts and set up trust funds for my kids with the residuals.

Well first off I wouldn't call MSNBC or any other company associated or owned by them since you choose to already ridicule them by posting on your site "BIGFOOT FOUND? "MEN WITH PROOF ALSO SEARCH FOR LEPRECHAUNS".

This proves you are nothing more than a TOOL for the government status quo.

It all depends if I see an alleged bigfoot corpse or a live sasquatch. If i see a live one, I wouldn't report it; the poor thing might live its entire life in a lab somewhere, subjected to all kinds of cruel testing. If dead, tho, I would definitely donate the body for testing.

This was debunked by bfro.net (bigfoot field researchers organization) immediately after it came out. The individuals involved are known hoaxters and the thing in the cooler is actually a bigfoot costume that can be purchased online or in costume shops; the BFRO has side by side photo comparisons on their site and it is unquestionably a hoax. All they did was take the costume, stuff it in the cooler, and throw in some entrails for "special effects". Amazing to me that the reporter didn't take the time or trouble to find any of this out.

As many people would like to believe this is true, it is not.
These people are looking to get attention to there website and cause.
There are many things on this earth that have not been discovered yet, but Bigfoot is a myth. It is inconceivable to think they have evaded so many people over so many years and have no and I mean NO strong evidence except doctored photos and fake hair samples, and one or two so called foot prints, never a trail of foot prints. Hey man, as for discoveries, they found water on Mars, now that's even cooler.

I would not report a live bigfoot, but definately report any deceased animal I found...I would note that it is interesting that the federal fish and game officers are refusing to get involved with this as they say it is not on any endangered species list. Failing to become involved might be a mistake as this animal is not protected it therefore becomes legal to hunt without legislative control. If these things do exist fish and game may have just sentenced them to extinction.

That has to be the most hilarious response that I have ever heard, "if they could understand me." HA HA HA HA. If the creature could understand our language that would mean that it learned it from some sort of interaction, meaning there is an acomplis to the horrific trreatment of this hairy beast and that it is already to late to run away. Its probably some dumb idiot who is now madly in love with the creature and is trying to keep mankind from putting their fiesty hands all up in its business, "run away, I Love You. I think we need to study such documentaries as Harry and the Henderson's, I also think John Lithgow could offer some insight on how to handle the new news. Let me just ask, do you think the creatures will like Sugar Cubes.

I the Bigfoot is real the guy won't need his boss anymore. The pic's are blurry and looks more like a costume to me. With the digital camera's today there should be no doubt viewing the pictures. I think bigfoot does exist but this whole story is a big hoax.

If i saw bigfoot, I would immediately put out what I was smoking, Cause i heard he has big lungs and i wouldnt want to share it with him cause he'd suck it all up. Then I would get back in my flying saucer, fly back to Loch Ness, and tell Nessie that I had indeed confirmed the existence of bigfoot, but dont worry, her secret is still safe with me.

Whitton and Dyer promise to tell the story of how they found the corpse at the news conference.

That sure seems like a funny place to find bigfoot's body.

From childhood through my 20's, to quote Fox Mulder, I "wanted to believe." I wish this were true it would undo so much of the cynicism I've accumulated through my 30's and 40's. I have to agree with Professor Meldrum from my Alma Mater. If I was betting, the best we'll get is "INCONCLUSIVE."

Um... call me simple-minded but it seems to me that, conclusive test results or no, can't we just LOOK at the damn thing to decide whether it's something we're familiar with or not? I mean... you know... There are no fully upright apes around except for people. if this is a fully upright ape then that's a pretty big deal.

Where are the pics of him close up? How about a pic of the famous large feet? I believe that you will discover that this is some kind of ape found somewhere else and set up... I do believe there is a bigfoot out there... but when someone finds one, you can believe that the digital camera will be worn out taking great photographs and promptly displayed to all of the naysayers, on line, instantly, with the discoverers. Looking forward to that day...
